Last Will and Testament Of
James Jones
Dec 13, 1795 - Feb. term, 1796.
To my wife Ann, my home plantation and land on west side of Tuckahoe adjoining and including lands bought of Jacob Johnston for her lifetime or widowhood and if she marry then to my son Allen, when of age; Also to wife Ann, stock, my crop, furniture, tools, farm implements, grindstone, guns, dishes, loom, spinning wheel, etc., etc., and in case she remarry, then my executors to sell all I have lent her and divide to all my children; To son Aretas Jones, my upper land on the south side of Tuckahoe at mouth of Crabtree Branch and all cattle in his mark; to my son Rial Jones, my land on Cold Running Branch down Tuckahoe to Gum Branch, 100 acres in the fork of Tuckahoe joining William Hones mill run opposite my home plantation whereon I live, and 50 pounds money; to my son Allen Jones, the plantation whereon I live and all land on west side of Tuckahoe including land bought of Jacob Johnston, Esq., and cattle; To daughter Ann Jones, cattle in her mark; to daughter Arellia Jones, cattle in her mark; to daughter Silvia Jones cattle in her mark; to daughter Merinda Jones, cattle; to daughter Elaney Jones, cattle; to daughter Elvey Jones, cattle; Each of my children to have a Negro as they come of age and my wife the old Negroes for her life or widowhood. The remaining estate not given away to be sold and divided to all my children. Exrs: John Jones and Thomas Johnston, Jr. Wts: William Jones, William Winsett, Isaac Thomas.”
