Jeptha Williams, was born in Georgia, January 1825. Where in Georgia, it is not know. He moved to Madison County about 1850.
In July of 1852, he married Miss Harriet Sullivan. Several years ago, I visited the Madison County Courthouse searching for documents regarding my maternal and paternal ancestors. In several of the land record books, I found records of land purchases and land homesteaded by Jeptha. After visiting the clerks office the second day, I searched through the marriage records and found the entry for Jeptha’s marriage. A typed copy of the document will be found at the end of this chapter.
Jeptha’s military service started when he enlisted in Florida Company A, 10th Infantry Regiment of the Confederate Army on 15 February 1863. Near the end of the same year, he was wounded in Petersburg, Virginia. On 9 April of 1865, Jeptha along with other soldiers of the CSA along with General Robert E. Lee surrendered at Appomattox Courthouse in Virginia.
Jeptha died 25 June 1901 in Live Oak Florida. His Last Will And Testament will be found in another section of this website.
Harriet Sullivan, was Born in Feb 1838 in Georgia. I have no other information on Harriet at this time other than she died in Suwannee County aft 12 Jun 1901.
